Maya Angelou House is in Haresfinch, a pleasant suburb of the town of St Helens and easily accessed via the A580 and the M6 motorway. The Home is near to a bus stop giving access to the towns centre and where bus and train stations are to travel to other parts of the local area, Merseyside and Manchester.There is one secondary school in the locality, one primary school and a further education college within walking distance. There is also a local leisure centre within walking distance, providing young people with a wide range of activities and the Home is adjacent to a local public park.
The Registered Manager Laura Hulley has worked almost continuously with LAC. Laura has worked in residential settings that cater for children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties some of whom display challenging behaviours, but has always strived to involve external agencies and the staff team to try to overcome these difficulties for the young people, to ensure the best possible outcomes for them and their families. Whilst ensuring children and young people receive support and guidance in a safe, caring environment in accordance with legal frameworks and organisational policies and procedures. Laura has acquired a range of skills, and knowledge which has enabled her to work with the range of young people in care and address some of the individual, sometimes complex care needs they require.Laura has experienced a variety of training and development opportunities
